Click the orange register button to the right of the class dates to sign up! Get certified and hired in less than a month! Minnesota State Approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Hybrid program. 43 hours of online coursework is required prior to class. You can scroll down for options or click here for additional program information.

Covid-19 UPDATE – This training is an essential service for hiring and retaining employment in essential fields. All courses include online coursework with additional in-class evolutions following strict social distancing guidelines. Participants will be eligible for employment after successfully completing the online work and course sessions.

Make a difference! Become a CNA with the Red Cross Nursing Assistant Program! The American Red Cross CNA Nurse Assistant Training Program offers students a chance to learn in a hands-on environment under the eyes of experienced licensed nurses, bolstered by a curriculum that meets or exceeds federal and state standards.

Graduates of the program are eligible to take the Minnesota CNA competency examination. After successful completion of the state exam (additional state testing fees may apply) you will be listed on the state Nurse Aide Registry. The state competency exam includes both a written examination and a skills evaluation. The purpose of the state exam is to make sure that the graduate understands and can safely perform in the role of an entry-level nurse assistant. *During Covid-19 clinical rotations have been waived so that employers can hire CNAs quickly after completion of the course.*

Course Information

The Red Cross Nurse Assistant Training course has several components. Students must pass all portions of the training in order to graduate.

  1. Blended learning – Students will first complete 43 hours of online training required prior to the listed in-classroom dates. Access to the online material will be granted soon after registration and no later than roughly 7 – 10 days prior to the classroom courses. Those who do not complete the online portion will not be allowed into the in-person sessions and must reschedule.
  2. Classroom learning / lab – after completing the online portion of the class, students will attend 35 hours of classroom practical / testing sessions.
  3. After successful completion of steps 1 and 2 students may apply for employment and/or register for the state exam for licensure. All information for state testing will be provided after your course.

Prerequisites: Students must be 16 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED. Scrubs and masks are required for in-person sessions. Masks must be either a surgical mask or KN95/N95. Feel free to contact our office with any questions. Though not a prerequisite for CNA training, it is highly recommended that you also have a current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification card. This is required by most employers and is a separate class/certification. Information on options to take this course (if needed/desired) will be emailed prior to your course and can be found here or by selecting BLS from the navigation menu on our website.

Please read our cancellation and rescheduling policy prior to registration here.

Please see state information on reimbursement of training costs here.

Price: Listed in registration table – The dates listed on registration are for the required in-person social distancing sessions (surgical or KN95 masks and scrubs are required) and all online coursework MUST be completed prior to these sessions. Online access is granted generally within one week of registration and no later than 7 – 10 days prior to the in class sessions via e-mail.
